August 2010 Fishing Report

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

Overall, the fishing this past month was excellent. To start the redfish were consistent. We were able to take good numbers of fish around the oyster bars and flats on low tide using artificials and live shrimp. The high tide flats were off the hook! On an average trip we saw 20-25 tailing reds and hooked quite a few on fly using small crab patterns. The tarpon fishing has been extremely good this year. On one trip last week we caught 2 fish over 100 pounds and most every boat around us caught at least one or more fish…lets hope it stays that way! Other than that we have been catching good numbers of lady fish, flounder and sharks inshore and kings, cudas and snapper offshore. Until next time, Catch em Up. Charlie

Beaufort and Hilton Head Inshore Fishing Report: June 2010

The redfish action last month was off the hook! The morning winds were light over most of the month making for some great sun rise fly rod opportunities. Moreover, with a lot of fish on the flats both fly and spin fishing was great through out the day. We had quite a number of double digit days and good numbers of large reds up to 12 pounds all in shallow water. We have also been catching good numbers of bonnet head sharks, lady fish, speckled sea trout and flounder. Picture 272

May 2010 Fishing Report

Monday, June 7th, 2010

This would normaly be the time to catch big cobia but this year things started off a bit slow so by mid May I went back to targeting redfish. The shallow water inshore red fishing was pretty good, especially for larger reds in the four to six pound range Most of the fish came from fishing around the shell bars and grass edges or up on the flats. My bait of choice this month was a 3.5 inch yum tube in white with silver flake. I was also able to take a quite a few reds on fly. The trout fishing picked up by mid month and by late the ladyfish were moving in solid. As the water has warmed I have been seeing alot of bait around the creeks and on the flats so fishing should stay good. Until next time, keep on fishing! April 2010 Fishing Report

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

April had its ups and downs. Early in the month the red fishing was on fire as the water warmed up and the schooling fish became more active. I had multiple days with 15 plus reds and quite a number of fish on the fly rod. As the fish started to break out of the schools and move into the grass their behavior became a bit more erratic however. Though still catching fish, it seemed that we had to move around a lot to what became a slow pick. As the waters have continued to warm, there have been a fair number of cobia in the river, some of which have topped 40 plus pounds. We were out sight fishing last week and took one out of a pair on the surface. In the offshore, the wahoo bite has been strong all month long and fair numbers of dolphin have been showing up as well. On a trip early in April we caught four wahoo up to 45 pounds. Check out this picture from that trip and until next time catch em up! Charlie

Beaufort and Hilton Head Fishing Report

This past month turned out to be excellent for the inshore redfish. I spent most of the month on the poling platform sighting huge schools of fish. These guys ate well through out the month and especially well by mid month as the water warmed up. As the fish became more active lures and flies became my bait of choice. In the offshore waters the sheepshead have been all over the wrecks along with good numbers of black drum, flounder and sea bass. We had a number of nice days last month where we were able to take advantage of this great wreck fishing. Check out this picture of Arnold and Arnie with a nice Lowcountry redfish and until next time…keep on fishing!
